    • Thomas was a farmer, born in New Jersey, by 1782 he and his family were in Frederick County, Virginia, where Thomas was included in a tax list. In 1783 and 1785 through 1796 he was on state enumerations and tax lists of Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. Thomas and Syche migrated to Jefferson (Cocke) County, Tennessee, late in 1795 or early 1796, where they joined Big Pigeon Baptist Church on 2 Jan 1796 by letter. They were in Cocke County when it was carved from Jefferson the following year.
