Irene Eleanor Paavola, 70, of Kansas City, MO was greeted by God's heavenly angels on March 24, 2007. Irene was born on September 11, 1936 in Colvin Township, St. Louis, County, MN to Henry and Sylvia Paavola. She grew up in Palo, MN and lived in different areas of Minnesota. In 1963 she and her family lived in Minot, ND. Shortly thereafter they moved to Kansas City, MO. Irene worked for several years in the Kansas City garment district where she perfected her craft as a tailor. She worked for Youth Craft and Brand & Puritz. For the past 20 years Irene worked for J. Higgins, LTD. She was the charter member in charge of production operations, master tailor and instructor. She sewed many beautiful creations in her lifetime including her daughter and granddaughters wedding dresses. She loved to work crossword puzzles and travel. Irene always made sure she spent time with her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. Her 1 year old great granddaughter was her special blessing. She practiced and helped many friends to live One Day At A Time. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sylvia Paavola, and her first husband, Merle Potter, who passed away August 4, 2006. Irene is survived by two sons, Jon Potter and wife, Glenda of Wheeler, MI; Kevin Potter and wife Lori of Odessa, MO; and daughter Kay and husband Bill of Kansas City, MO; 8 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter; and her beloved dog, FredFred. Visitation will be Monday, March 26th, 6-8:00pm at Newcomer's Sons White Chapel, 6600 NE Antioch Rd; Gladstone, MO. Services will be 1:00pm, Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Brooking Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to NorthCare Hospice, 2900 Clay Edwards Dr.; NKC, MO 64116.
