CHRISTOPHER HAWKINS
Christopher Bennett Hawkins was born September 21, 1832 in Cameron, Cornwall, England. He came to America in 1857 and was united in marriage in 1860 to Mary A. (Plaster) Dobbs in Van Buren county, Iowa.
To this union were born five children, Joseph H., John W., and C. C. Hawkins, Mrs. Grace E. Loach and Mrs. Carrie C. Kent. All are living except Joseph H., who died in 1884.
The family came to Lucas in 1878 and Mr. Hawkins united with the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints of Lucas, remaining a true and faithful member of that church until called from his labors to rest.
He leaves to mourn his loss two sons, two daughters, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He died at 6:30 a.m., December 29, 1913 at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 8 days and was buried December 31st at one o'clock at the Rose Hill cemetery. Services were conducted by Elder John Garver, of Lamoni, Iowa.
