JUDGE WILLIAM McKISSACK
William McKissack was born in Cocke county, Tenn Sept 1, 1812. His parents removed when he was only seven years old to Missouri and locating first in Saline County, lived there for three years and then cmae to Ray County, and settled upon the same place where Judge McKissack now lives. Our subjext was educated in the school of this county, and remined at home with his parents until nineteen years of age adn then commmenced farming on his own accoutn. In the month of Dec 1832, William McKissack was married to Miss Rachel Odell by Elder Tunradge of Ray County. Mrs McKissack is the daughter of Isaac and Nancy Odell , natives of Tenn. She was born in the month of Dec 1815, in the state of Indiana wither her parents had removed. Ten children have been born ot Judge and Mrs McKissack only four of whom are not living. John enlisted in company B 44th Missouri volunteers and died at New Orleans April 11 1865 and was buried there. Simon enlisted in the 3rd regiment of Missouri calary, in wich he was orderly sergeant, and was killed June 8, 1862 and was killed at the baattle of Springfield. His remains were brought home and interred in the Odell cemetary. Sarah who married George P Clevenger, is now deceased. Isaac is also dead. james enlisted in co B 44th regiment Missouri volunteer infantry and was killed in the engagement at Franklin, Tenn and was buried on the battle field. Martha married James Woods and is now living near her father's home. Wiliam is married and lives Vernon County Missouri. Mary Ann married John Connerford and now lives in Kansas. Moses is unmarried and still at home with his parents. Two children unnamed died ininfancy. William McKissack was judge of the county court of this county for ten years. he has also served as Justice of the Peace for a number of years. he and Mrs McKissack are leading members of the Missionary Baptist Church. Judge McKissack is one of theoldest, most highly respected prominent and influential citizens of Ray County.
